”Born in ancona in 1955, he graduates at Rome's Accademia di
Belle Arti (Art Academy). He begins working as stage
photographer for the theatrical avant-garde of the 70's and
80's. He continues working on portraits and reportages,
following social themes, national and international news with
particular attention to Rome's events and environment.
Emigration, prostitution, the outcasts and the parties of
Rome's wealthy, together with a long project with the italian
police in high-crime areas, and the arrival of Islam in the
world's capital of christianity, makes a large documentation of
social changes in the city through the years.
In 1994 he began a trip in the areas dominated by the
"Camorra", portraying places and peoples whose living standards
are below every european scale.
He resumes then his work-in-progress on Rome, St. Peter's
square a year before the Jubilee, searching a metaphysical
vision of the square.
Angelo Turetta is currently working on the chinese community in
Italy.
His experience continues as stage photographer on several mayor
movie sets, compiling a comprehensive fresco of the italian
cinema scene.
Angelo Turetta works with Contrasto since 1986.”
